Question:
I'm currently in New York and need a root canal. I've been told this
will cost at least $750. If I wait until I'm in Ireland in February
what can I expect to pay there.
Answer:
I knew a dentist in Donegal, who used to charge half a bottle of whiskey for
pulling a tooth. Maybe he wasn't so bad, after all...
No, just the usual nova-whatsit. He was known as 'a mans's dentist' because
he'd not wait for the stuff to take effect fully, before getting out the
pliers
EUR600 odd... depending on where ye go.
I'm amazed that Irish dentistry costs are on a similar par with the US.
Yes it is. And as he recenty died while crossing the road to get to a pub,
I've no worries about libel. It was bastards like him that put the fear of
god into children and adults alike.
The job has been done (except for a follow up next Tuesday) - $695,
Unpleasant but no pain. Had I known about the Dental Hospital I'd
have waited. But I now need 2 or 3 crowns so I'll wait till I'm home
to get them done.
Like all dentists, both north and south, the quality will vary from dentist to
dentist. There are shite dentists in the south who charge exorbitant rates, and
there are highly skilled dentists in the North who charge much more reasonably.
The issue with the charges levied by dentists on either side of the border is
that the baseline prices levied in the north are much lower than the baseline
prices in the South. The quality is on average, around the same.
