Question:
A year ago I tried the Crest teeth whitening system and it worked
pretty well.
However it costs $40.
Does anyone know a cheaper yet still effective system for teeth
whitening or even a home made one that would work well?
Answer:
There was a really long thread on this about a month and a half ago.
The subject line was "whiter teeth", check google.
(The main conclusion was, for any serious whitening, you're going to
have to pay - but there were a lot of comments, the discussion went on
for a couple of weeks.)
Cross check under "vanity" and "unnecessary nonfrugal actions".
A pint of strawberries. Really. Eat 'em.
Try a $5.00 bottle of MSM capsules (Walmart) . Moisten brush, pour on, brush
at least twice a day, for a couple wks.
Or, there's the old standby, hydro-peroxide & baking soda. (your dentist
will probably advise against it, especially if he's making $$ from cosmetic
dentistry)
There are no teeth whitening products (that work) that cost less than
Crest Whitestrips. Whitestrips are a bargain and work great. My sister
spent hundreds of dollars on whitening at a dentist's office--I bought
professional strength Whitestrips for around 50 bucks on the internet
and got just as good a result. No, I don't work for Crest--I am just an
incredibly satisfied customer.
If you have any type of teeth bonding material used on your teeth, the
peroxide & baking soda can and will discolor and darken it.
Crest recommends that you do the top teeth first so that you will be
able to see the difference between Creststripped teeth and
non-Creststripped teeth. I could not see the difference until I had
been using the Creststrips about 10 days--then suddenly there was a huge
difference. I recommend the professional strength Creststrips (which
are slightly stronger and have 3 weeks worth of strips instead of 2--use
Google to find the best prices online).
