Well said Nina. They don't care about anything. They allow you housing costs
just about and that's it. They also like ringing up the AP at work and
frightening him into paying, which is what they did to my partner. What gets
me is they've taken the money I earn, which is a pittance, into account when
assessing my partners claim but the ex wife is remarried, her new husbands
money isn't considered at all. I had a 15 minute rant at the CSA on the
phone yesterday. Got nowhere but felt a bit better. The woman I spoke to
even agreed with me that the way they work out travelling expenses is
ridiculous. It costs my partner £140 a month and he travels over 150 a week
but they said it's not 150 miles 'in a straight line' so he can't get any
allowance for that. maybe he should sprout wings and fly to work. God, I'm
seething. Life's too short for all this crap with these people. Everyone has
to try and do something about this, it's the only way. Hassle them alot,
tell the papers and contact your MP all the time. They've been given so much
power and it's killing people. The only voice we have is a collective one.
Sometimes I can hardly bear to read this NG because I get so angry with the
way people are being treated. It's sick. We have to pay £45 a week for a 10
year old. Folks on the dole only get that. £25 goes to the b***h because as
the woman told me 'someone has to care for the child'. I could do a better
job myself. meanwhile I live in a dump which is so damp ther'es slugs in the
bathroom, the kitchen is falling apart, it's so dark we have a light on all
day and this costs us £310 a month. We wanted to save and get our own place.
fat chance now. Oh, and don't forget the bills, can't pay them now. They say
they want to end child poverty. Funny they are putting second families into
poverty then. I said to the woman 'they don't even get the money, you keep
it' and she couldn't answer me. I'm prepared to go to prison for this
because it shouldn't happen in this country. It's extortion. people are
being taxed for being parents and that's all it is, a tax.
You ranted in the right place ! If I get any more hassle from the
CSA then I will seriously consider AWIDD's and Chad's advice and start
afresh abroad. My wife would not be able to take any more of their
intrusion - and we are only one of the 'soft target' complying 2nd-
family types !
You could always take consolation from the fact that the slugs in your
bathroom have more sense than the average CSA employee !
They don't even make an allowance for housing costs if you own your own
house and don't have a mortgage. They tell me I have no housing costs even
though I was putting off urgent work for years. I should spend at least as
much as a normal rent on maintenance. They took nearly 2 years to allow me
contact costs. I feel very bitter towards them.
