Question:
How would you go about getting the best dental repair for the least
$$$?
What one question could you ask in calling around for estimates.
Like how much for full x-rays or ........ root canals?
Is the use of mercury a good philosophical place to start? It's a poison.
Bush says that he does not need approval from the U.N.to wage
war.& he didn't need the approval of the voters to become
president either,did he?
Answer:
A frugal dental care is what you need uhh? Take a hammer and smash all your
teeth out, then eat through a tube.
Brush AND floss after each meal.
Swab gums with peroxide and rinse.
Use a Butler stimulator on all gum surfaces each day.
Avoid food and drink between meals.
Avoid accidents and street fights.
For your current repair you could call the local dental school if
there is one.
Malls have dentists with generally competitive rates.
My brother found a dentist at the end of his block that filled a
cavity without even needing an x-ray and at a good price. That's what
he wanted. Some dentists always want to do full mouth x-rays and put
you on a "program". Tell them up front what you want and do your share
by following the first five lines above.
Get a long term dentist. If you have regular dental care and good
dental hygiene you will reduce your dental bills and reduce
complications.
Ask your friends for recommendations. A good dentist won't fill every
little cavity in your mouth but will watch them to see if they are
getting worse.
Fillings are made with mercury amalgams but there is little evidence
that the mercury is absorbed into the body. Mercury needs to be a salt
in order to be absorbed well.
Crowns are better, but they are more expensive.
If you lose a tooth, a titanium implant is a great way of replacing
the tooth and keeping your jaw bones strong.
You could try a dental school. The rates will be about 1/2 of a regular
dentist, and they typically have great payment plans without any interest and
low monthly payments. But you will be worked on by a student, not a licensed
dentist. Sort of like getting you hair cut at a barber school, but even more
scarry, ha. The student I had was nearly done with his education, and did
a good job. I even got a gold crown done completely for free at U.O.P one
time because the student needed a patient for his dental board exams,
which take even more of your time and many visits. The work is checked
along the way by the instructors, but you never know. They are more likely to
make mistakes obviously as they are still learning. Another downside in
my experience was the wait time.A procedure that took my regular dentist an hour
or so, took nearly two full days of waiting and waiting, did I mention I had to
wait to be seen, wait for progress checks, etc. An option worth checking into
though if you are low income or uninsured and can't afford reg. dental care.
I didn't see or hear anyone complaining about poor work, just the wait time.
