From Staci - announcing a new dental website ?

Question:

I am a dental practice management consultant new to the Internet, and I am very excited to be a part of your forum. I look forward to discussing dentistry with everyone, since in life there is no real opportunity to interact with fellow colleagues as you can on the Internet. My friend is sort of a "techie", and she decided to help me in reaching out to dentists and practice managers with a website, which we have entitled "Dental Insights." I would appreciate it if you would take alook at my site, since I might be able to offer you some practice management ideas. I would welcome any suggestions on how it can be improved. The site is at http://www.dentalinsights.com

Answer: I agree. Except over here, whenever I start talking teeth in person, everyone I know runs very fast.

I went to the practice management consultant web-site mentioned in this thread and read a bit.....

They tell dentists they should have a "A.M. Huddle" each morning to get the office organized. Reading the list of topics to be covered it would appear that the primary topic is how to make sure to get the money from the patients. Now I know this is a business but I would feel a bit better if perhaps the "Huddle" included a bit more on how we can do a better job on each patient. Of particular concern was one topic for the Huddle as follows

"Make notes in appointment book for reminders. Examples: patient pays today, or no payment today stretch out treatment (extra appointment)."

Not being a dentist, I am kind of curious as to what "stretch out treatment" means. I suppose there could be a positive dental health version of stretching out treatment, but when given in the context of of all the other advice being primarily concerned with getting the money, then I kind of get concerned. Perhaps the dental consultants are only out to help, but then again they don't talk much about stretching out the patients payments.

Should we, the public be concerned, or have you found the practice management consultant crowd to be ethical and only out to promote the interests of the nations dental health?

trenches on the front lines, with my sights firmly set on the fifty percent of the population who do not seek routine dental care. Did I miss my calling??? Or am I simply real enthusiastic about the upcoming EastFlex monodont technology that will be introduced by one of the oldest and most respected names in the dental industry? Dr. Steve lightened up on me today...it sounds like you guys are buddies. Give me a week to get the info to him, redo the website, which by the way is http://www.eastflex.com.Hooked up with a pro website designer. Can wait to the new design.
