Arizona Dentist ?

Question:

I am a New Jersey dentist for 6 yrs now, thinking of a relocation to AZ. Its a huge move for me, as I have a successful practice here and a family. Are there any AZ dentists who can offer some advice or info on living and practicing there. I want to make an informed decision.

Answer: Not practicing in arizona, but I do have some classmates that own practices in the area. Depends on where in arizona he wants to purchase a practice. I have two friends in scottsdalea and one friend in phoenix. I graduated in 2003. I have a friend who purchased a practice in may and has purchased a second practice this past December. Who is doing extremely well. They all complain about the lab support. They all send their cases to california. This my 2 cents from my buddies. Good place to live if you enjoy the heat, golf and the sun. It is land locked if you like water, you need to travel.

YOU GOTTA LOVE THE DESERT IF YOU WANT TO PRACTICE HERE! Let's see, it's March 26th and the temp in Phoenix was 85 today. Actually that's a lot cooler then it's been for awhile. We were 97 degrees just the other day. Once April is here it's gonna bee 100+ degrees until October. Nothing like your used to in Jersey. However, this is a fast growing place. Phoenix is now #5 in size in the USA. We have a lot of room for dental practices. There are some newer areas that don't have any dentist wihtin 5 mile radius. And population saturation means even 1 dentist will be overworked! If you can stand the heat, the desert is a beautiful place. But then, Arizona isn't all desert. Most of the northern half of the state is above 3000 feet elevation with mountains and pine trees. Problem is it's all rural. There are no large population centers in the high country like there are in the desert south (Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma). Flagstaff is the only city of any appreciable size. If you like cooler weather and a rural lifestyle this might be what you're looking for. I moved here from California back in 1988. Haven't looked back since. This is a great place to live and raise a family. Or start a business. Any other questions?
