Seeking a Dentist ?

Question:

I need allot of dental work but don't have dental insurance. Who is a good, but reasonably priced dentist Boulder? Whom should I avoid?

Answer: Avoid "Perfect Teeth" franchise-type offices' . My husband needed some minor work recently and went to 2 of these offices . . . both INSISTED on much more costly work and were'nt the least bit conservative in their approach. I have 12 years dental background and was quite taken aback at their approach.

Richard Morrissey, at Family Dentistry (west side of 28th St, between Pearl and Canyon, upstairs from Blockbuster Video) is great. I have no idea about relative pricing, but I imagine the variations aren't that huge.

I can recommend Dr. Heidi Winquist, DDS who is in practice with Dr. Robert Baxt at 2727 Pine (or is it Spruce? - just drive there on autopilot.)

Heidi will work with you to put your work and payments on a comfortable schedule. She is considerate, careful, and, although young, a rather good dentist.

You can find other recommendations on my web page: "Boulder County's Best": http://www.dimensional.com/~richmacd/bcbest.html

Go to Sunrise dentall across from the mall. If you have a checking account they have a payment plan that will work. I didn't have insurance and it worked for me plus thier is now interest if you pay it off before 6 months.

I asked a similar question here a few months ago. Someone suggested Schaffer who I had an appointment with yesterday. He was the only suggested who took my CU dental insurance. Anyway, I don't have any idea about how his rates are when compared with other dentists, but he certainly isn't a dentist who will suggest the world to you. I guess what I'm trying to say is, from my initial visit I got the feeling he wouldn't suggest more than he really thought you needed. Anyway, I'd call around and ask for rates on things like fillings, crowns, etc.
