I am looking for a good dentist in the Phoenix, Arizona area. I want
a good quality dentist that utilizes innovative tools and techniques.
For instance, I have read good things about the Diagnodent device.

I appreciate the effort, but I was looking for a good database that
isn't sponsor driven. I thought that possibly a dentist would have a
better idea of what databases to search. For instance, as you know
1800dentist is a paid service. If you don't know of any resources
like this that the over 12,000 results you got are plenty.
It can't hurt to contact Dr. David Dodell in Scottsdale. He is
involved with modern technology, and probably knows some good dentists
in Phoenix.
It's not a good idea to focus on "dental gadgets" of any type, like
lasers, Diagnodent, air-abrasion, etc. in your search for a dentist.
The skills, and especially the philosophy, of the dentist are far more
important than the brand of equipment used.
A good dentist will have a philosophy of practice and prevention that
he can discuss with you, and he'll already have the instruments
necessary to put that approach into practice.
A substandard dentist can purchase all kinds of gadgets and
impressive-looking "innovative" items. All it takes is money. The
skill and character of the dentist are FAR more important than the
gadgets.
Dentists who can remember the "high-tech" items like Caridex, the
Hyfurcator, and the Vitredent vitreous-carbon implants, can testify
that "innovative" devices don't always work out as well as the press
releases claim!
