Question:
Just got a lot wiser re fillings and wondered if any one else has had
filling woes? I wrote a while back re reacting to freezing and got
various replies. I opted to have my dental work done minus the
freezing. Fortunately for me I got a very precise, careful, patient
dentist.(My first positive experience ever with a dentist) The filling
went very well and I felt really good after the work. I hadn't
realized just how sick the freezing was making me in the past.
We had opted for a white temporary filling, and what I didn't realized
was that there are now a number of options as to what kind of white
filling. Mine had cloves in it for healing. Wonderful thought except I
can't tolerate cloves. After trying to tough it out for about four
days thinking this was my only option (except for the silver colored
amalgam which really makes me sick) I went to brush my teeth and the
filling popped right out. I was upset of course but it turned out to
be providential as the dentist replaced it with another white filling
only this one has a different composition and feels just fine. So if
some of you are sensitive to foreign substances like I am it might
spare you a lot of grief to know there are options when it comes to
fillings.
Answer:
I just returned from my third trip to the dentist in a week. After
spending half the night up. I got up this morning barely able to speak
and function so I decided it was time for the tooth to go. As I was
afraid to further aggrevate my system I talked him into forgetting
about the freezing. It is only slightly more uncomfortable than when
the freezing doesn't take (90 % of the time mine don't). As it is when
the freezing doesn't take once the tooth is out the recovery is much
faster than and more painless than when it is frozen, although this
may be specific to me because I always react so poorly to freezing.
The second filling didn't react as quickly as the first and may have
stood a chance had my system not already been riled up from the first
one.
Does any one else out there have dentist woes like me or am I alone?
Don't get me wrong it was my tooth not the dentist. The dentist was
very good to me he was just reluctant to go for pulling minus
freezing. While it was no picnic if I ever need another tooth out I
would opt for no freezing again although mine are front teeth. A molar
might be more risky.
I'd summarize in 3 small paragraphs, 3 (dentist) events and post to news:sci.med.dentistry
Of course any reactions like weakness, erratic heartbeat or other might be attributed to stress so pick
3 good ones that had visual manifestations.
Tell them what meds and/or herberls/supplements you're on.
Tell them what allergies you have, what medical diagnoses you have.
My son had fillings fall out and it was the mix that was "outdated". It took 3 years of the dentist
giving me and my son heck "what's he eating to cause this?" until I called and gave them heck and they
checked the expiry date(s).
