Question:
I know at least one of you are in FL but don't remember who, sorry. I am in
Broward county. I need to have my bridge replaced because it snapped in
half. I also need to have the tooth that it hooks to repaired again due
probably to two surgeries and not being able to get in to see my dentist.
Can you give me a ball park figure for a lower bridge (I have six teeth
left, long story but lost all my top and the rest of the bottom when I bled
out before my crohn's diagnosis), repair of my last molar, sorry don't know
the numbering system, and reline my top denture? I have insurance through
our health and dental but still would like an idea of what I am looking at.
It really doesn't matter because obviously I need to go just want to be able
to see what I am looking at. My bridge that broke has the metal clips and
worked great for me until two surgeries ago ('03).
Answer:
I'm in Florida, but the other coast (Collier County).
This is tough to estimate over the internet. By bridge you may mean
"removable partial denture" and it may be fabricated from acrylic (plastic).
Estimates are tough as each dentist has his own preference. As example, I
prefer cast metal (Vitallium) removable partial dentures with acrylic
attachments (meaning where the teeth attach).
Insurance will usually cover 50% up to $1,500.
I have a good dentist who has taken
real good care of me. My dental problems were not caused by him. I came to
him a mess and he gave me my self esteem back when he took the bad teeth out
and gave me dentures that looked like the remaining teeth, but more
important he took care of the pain the diseased teeth were causing. My
teeth die first from under the gums and move up so it was hard for me to see
and I am not good about going every 6 months or year until I know I need to.
Yea I no bad but with all the other dr's in my life for crohn's, copd and
the extras that crohn's causes it's easy to make excuses not to see another
dr. Anyways, thanks again, I hope it's ok to continue lurking. I find a
lot of the info interesting but I do enjoy the way you all chat back and
forth about some of the OT stuff. Joel, see if you can get some new one
liners, I used to laugh but some are really old and I like one liners!! :-)
