Question:
My allergist is willing to do a dental mental skin patch test on me.
I have lichen planus disease which is known to be affected byu dental
amalgam. My allergist has no information on how the test is performed
and has asked me to help find the answer. If anyone has specific
information on any standarized test I would greatly appreciate your
help.
Answer:
Everything I read says that the incidence of lichen planus disease
called by dental amalgam is very low. What makes you think that
amalgam is responcible?
While I think that you are probably barking up the wrong tree, you can find
a chart of common dental alloys here:
http://www.ceramco.com/pdf/alloys/alloys_charts_crown&bridge.pdf . I would
start with nickel and copper.
Yes, I typoed and used mental instead of
metal. I have been battling my lichen planus for over 4 years. I'm 51
and I've probably had it 'growing' on and in me for 30 years,
unknowing what it was until rwecently. I have actinic lichen planus on
the sun damaged skin on my face and neck, I have erosive lichen planus
on my lips and in my ears. And now I'm fighting it on my genitals. Who
knows where else it is. Here is a pretty good web site explainging
some of the different variations of lichen planus: (scroll down past
the spanish)

You can see some photos of my treatment with Efudex cream. Without the
cream you may not know my skin was so damaged by the lichen planus. My
lips were the most painful.

If my dental fillings are the cause or contributor to the suffering
I've endured all I can say is let the lawsuits begin in ernest.
Always seek the opinion of a licensed dental professional before acting on
