Question:
My wife needs a dentist in this area and I would prefer not to go from
dentist to dentist trying to find one that won't charge us an arm and
a leg. We know my wife has an abcessed wisdom tooth and may need a
molar repair, but I have no idea what that costs. I have hear horror
stories of people paying 1k for stuff like this and it scares me.
Does anyone know someone in the Pasco/Pinellas area who is affordable
and a licensed dentist?
Answer:
Florida Dental Center. There are several in the area, and much higher
quality than Coast or Castle Dental. Where are you more specifically?
There are offices in Clearwater, Port Richey, Pinellas Park, Largo...
Hang in there, one of the excellent dental hygienists at SMD is in
your area and I am certain she will come through with a nice
recommendation!
Yup! Way ahead of you! I can recommend many, many excellent private
practice dentists in the area. However, he is concerned about cost and
since it seems to be an "emergency" situation, it will be difficult to find
a dentist who is not only open on a Friday, but a Friday after Christmas.
So, FDC should meet his wife's needs very well. There is also a "Dental
Emergency Room" in the area (Clearwater). It is open 24/7/365. However,
they are very pricy there. If he is hoping for his wife to have the
abscessed tooth extracted TODAY, I would recommend going to this E.R.,
otherwise FDC will probably give her pain meds and antibiotics and set her
up an appt with one of their oral surgons.
The Discount Dental Plans are filling a need ~ providing you can be
tough as nails and not let yourself get bait-and-switched, I mean
baited-and-switcheded.
I hate to seem as though I have stock in the business, because I do not, but
Florida Dental's fees are usually less than what someone would pay even with
one of those discount plans. I used to work there, and the place definitely
fulfills a need to the community to provide good quality dentistry at
reasonable fees. I would still be there, except the pay is average to below
average while I had to maintain a 30 minute prophy schedule. By the end of
the day, I was wiped out!
