Question:
I am wondering if there is anyone that will be coming to Fresno that
might be in need of a roommate?
Answer:
Fresno is still a predominantly a country/swing event, with many talented
dancers. In fact, I suspect many of the country dancers are well versed in
Waltz technique, and will be able to follow whatever you lead. Why don't you
come with an open mind, a sense of fun, and leave your attitude at the door.
If you do come, stop by and say hello. I'd be glad to point out some
potential waltz partners for you.... if you measure up.
In general, I'll agree with you. But the main floor at the Fresno event
is *HUGE*, and for some reason sometimes a fair portion of Two Steppers
sit out some very nice Waltz songs.
Actually, Fresno is probably closer to 50-50 Country/WCS, if you include the
atrium, where the WCS format predominates (Jack Smith is the dj out there this
year). I believe Cliff Housego is the dj in the main ballroom, and in addition
to Country, Cliff happens to be a very good WCS dj, as is "Swingin Z", Dean
Zimmerman, who does late night. Country does predominate Friday during the day
and Saturday morning, when the UCWDC comps are held, but otherwise there's a
good balance.
