Question:
I read the crown for a tooth implant is
about the same as the regular crown, and the cost of it, therefore,
should be roughly the same (US$500 - 800.) Is this true?
My dentist is charging me US$1,600 for the crown for my implant on #21
(premolar). It seems too much for a crown. I am wondering if my
dentist raises the price on the implant crown since it is not covered
by my insurance and she can get away with charging a lot more?

The hardware to get the crown onto an implant costs over $250 wholesale.
Add in some cost for the time to order, receive, check-in, clean, package,
and place in your mouth. Plus the Lab will charge a couple hundred more for
the custom abutment (assuming that is how yours was done). My full crown
fee on a tooth is $905. On an implant is closer to $1200.
