Question:
Yesterday I had a trip to the dentist for a filling. This is the first
oral work i've had done in 15 yrs. Well when I woke up this am my
right knee was glowing redder than my mouse and I had to spend about 20
mins with my hands in hot water just to pry them open. Is this typical
or just a coincidence. I have another apt on Mon am for one more
filling and want to be ready if this will continue. even my wrist is
swollen which has never been before.
Answer:
Stress.... You may of been clenching your fists and not
even of known it. I do not know anyone that enjoys having dental work
done. I can remember the time when just getting angry for a short
period of time would make some joint light up. My only suggestion is to
keep your RD informed of what is taking place. I had to keep a sort of
record of what took place between visits and would just hand it to the
doc when he walked into the room.
Exactly. I was in the chair yesterday myself getting a
filling and a crown, but my dentist whacks at my teeth
all the time so it was nothing new to me. Great guy,
my dentist - a big basketball fan, and a Civil War buff
like me. Gentle. And a fast worker. It's tough to
get that tense when I visit him.
And hopefully ... will have another 15 years after
Monday until he needs any more dentistry done. Everybody
has something that gives them the grues. I handle most
everything gracefully except missed free throws and
unforced turnovers.
I used to have a flare up of all RA and MS symptoms whenever I had major
dental work done. Now that I have to pre-medicate with abx it doesn't
happen. Go figure. Coincidence or not?
I have to take 3 tablets at the same time one hour before my appointment. And
my dentist prescribes them.
