laser teeth whitening in bkk ?

Question:

I am having some crowns replaced shortly (not in LOS) and am considering having my teeth whitened so I can match the crown's color to my other teeth.

Last time in BKK I saw many ads around the place for teeth whitening. If you have had this done in bkk could you please share your experiences and costs.

If I can get the teeth done, and have a short holiday at the same time, it may be a good opportunity to revisit LOS again this year.

Answer:

I would get the whitening of your natural teeth done first before the crowns as the bleaching will not affect the shade of the crowns at all.

There shouldn't be any need to do this just so that the colours will match. The dentist will be able to match the colour of the crowns to that of your normal teeth.

Don't fall for the advertising hype of the toothpaste manufacturers who try to convince you that sparkling white is the normal colour of teeth. Its not. The natural colour of teeth is the yellowish shade that most people have.

The two front teeth were knocked and two othes were broken off at the gum line leaving one natural tooth beside the two front ones. This was badly damaged and took almost a year to gain strenth. This tooth is very dark compared to the others around it and I would like to whiten the complete mouth - not to a pearly white color - this will never happen - too much smokes, coffee and wine (although the smokes ended 15 years ago).

I'm just trying to work out - what the costs are in bkk - in canberra in aus - I would have to pay about $1000 aus and if I can get a cheaper treatement in Bkk and can do this as part of a holiday - then I am on my way.

have you thought about Chiang Mai for treatment ? Cheaper than Bangkok, most likely. And the "saner, cleaner" lifestyle here (your mileage may vary depending on your behavior) imho is more conducive to healing.

There are several excellent dental resources available here including the Chiang Mai Dental Hospital (also has been recommended by other SCT'rs). I don't have enough teeth left to whiten :) ... but several places offer whitening. My guess is that in Bangkok you would find more technical expertise in implants, but I haven't researched facilities doing implants in Chiang Mai, so perhaps I am short-changing it.

I live in Aust - have just returned from Korat and had dental work (for me and my extended family) at first class clinic equal to the best I have had here. The dentist spoke very good english and explained all work to me.

Check up and clean = 500baht each person. Fillings = 300 baht single face (small) Fillings = 400 baht double face (large)

I am very satisfied with the service and cost. I have full Medibank Private insurance here and yet my "GAP" cost here would have been higher than the total cost in Thailand.
