Question:
A dentist of mine shaved and capped a tooth of mine (The only wisdom tooth in
my mouth). But he did not do a root canal. Is this common. I thought you should
alwyas do a root canal when doing a cap. The reason I didn't get it pulled is
because I have enough pulled teeth. Anyway, Why didn't I get a root canal? Am I
setting myself up for trouble in a few years?
Answer:
I am no dentist, however, I have 3 crowns(all on molars cracked due to night
clenching).
I was referred to an endodontist each time and only 1 tooth required RCT.
My dentist crowned the teeth, using temp. cement initially and after many
months of no pain , she then used the permanent cement. The endodontist
indicated that IF I had any problems after the crowns were permanently
cemented, that he still could access the roots through crowns and then patch
the crowns.
What on earth does an appendectomy have to do with RCT? Sometimes your
responses are way too bizarre!!!
