My dentist referred me to a specialist for a root canal.he wants $600
for a front tooth and $900 for a molar.Is this a reasonable price or
do you know where I can have it done cheaper?

Root canal prices vary with each particular tooth, as some teeth have
more roots than others. I've had two root canals. One cost me a
thousand bucks (for a tooth way back in my mouth) the other cost me 600
(for a tooth closer to the front). Both root canals were done by the
same dentist. I asked why there was a price difference, and I got the
above explanation.
The prices are set by CDA. All Dentist charge the same price for the same
procedure. But what happens is that one dentist says you need X and the
other one says you need Y. But x and y cost the same at both.
