how much should a root canal cost?

Question:

how much should a root canal cost?

Answer:

I've spent over $1700 on dental procedures so far this year (one crown; one bridge in progress). Ack! :-)

Anyway, my dentist has advised me that one of the teeth involved in the bridge had deep decay. That tooth has hurt ever since he did the prep work for the bridge... My dentist told me (at the time, and several times since) that a root canal may be in order. I've had two done already (in a different tooth, but the same tooth twice, no less) so I pretty much know what to expect. What I'm curious about, though, is how much a root canal should cost.

This is for a bottom, way-back-on-the-right tooth (29? 31? something like that).

If its #29, it has one root - a simple job - around $200-250. If its 31, its a molar with 3 roots, more difficult $3-400.

Maybe more, maybe less, depending on your area and the state of fees.

Come to England - National health service

simple root canal about £25 ($40)

molars about £40 ($65)

And the goverment don,t want to spend more- we must become more efficient !!! Donations gratefully received.
