Question:
I'm going to get my amalgam-fillings removed soon and my dentist says he's not
going to take any special measures while removing. He says, water-cooling is
enough.
Plus he plans to remove my 12 fillings in four sessions within a month.
Answer:
My advice is to find someone else to do it. You have to have it done with the
proper precautions. If you don't, I guarantee that you will regret it ( I did ).
Having it done in 4 sessions is a good idea though.
You should be VERY concerned! If it were me, I would find another
dentist. Water-cooling is NOT enough. Ask your dentist where he puts
the amalgam once he takes it out of your mouth. It eventially goes to
a toxic waste disposal area.
If you want to find out more on the subject of amalgam removal, you
should read Dr. Huggins' book "It's All In Your Head". I suggest you
read it before having any amalgams removed. It gives you a better
appreciation of what all is necessary. If you already have a weakened
immune system, it is very imperative that you check this out before
having the work done.
There is a VERY STRICT protocol to follow, including sequential
removal, having to do with electrical current. According to Dr.
Huggins' book, "...electrical current is the difference between
success and failure in some cases. If the negative fillings are
removed first, the patient's chances of improving are good. If the
positively charged fillings are removed first, leaving the negative
behind, chances for success drop substantially." Also on page 116
Dr. Huggins further explains that "The suicidal patient is extremely
sensitive to changes in electrical current." So more strict protocol
is involved there.
Another good book to read is Dental Mercury Detox by Sam and Michael
Ziff. It can be ordered at

Once the fillings are out of your mouth, steps need to be taken to get
the mercury out of your body. Mercury vapor is released from amalgam
fillings everytime you eat or chew gum or drink hot beverages, or if
you grind your teeth in your sleep (which I used to do). The body
cannot rid itself of mercury so the body stores it in your cells,
tissues and organs. Chelation is recommended.
