Question:
I am conducting an experiment for my science fair
project on the staining of teeth by certain
beverages (tea, grape juice, cola, punch). I am
looking for either any previous research
published on the topic or would like dentists to
respond to this survey question.
In your experience, which beverages (see above
list) have the greatest affect on the staining of
teeth?
Answer:
If you will take the opinion of a hygienist, I will vote for tea. Coffee would
be my first choice, but it isn't on your list. Let us know your results.
Perhaps you could try purchasing some ceramic tiles or cheap white coffee
cups to compare the way different liquids might stain.
Remember how Efferdent TV commercials showed the effects of denture
tablets on "this here piece of denture material"? (guess a real denture was
just too gross!)
