Question:
from the Chicago area. I could use some advice and help as
I would like to get my moderately yellow teeth to a nice white color. I know
the dentists have various expensive systems involving bleach, laser, overnight
gel trays, etc. But does anyone know the most inexpensive, the easiest, the
safest home system without paying the professionals? Even if it takes somewhat
longer to accomplish, I would like to hear from someone who knows or who has
gone through the home process of whitening.
Answer:
what you have found to be the price of bleachings services at
your dentist. I have found bleaching to be a plus for my patients who want
it and are concerned about their appearance. I don't push bleaching because
I don't really enjoy doing the procedure but if a patient wants whiter teeth
I don't mind so much. My practice has set the fee for bleaching trays which
are custom made and the patient takes home at $100 for the upper teeth and
$100 for the lower teeth with the inclusion of whitening gel and their
choice of strength of gel to use included in the price. I feel this is very
affordable and it works nice over an extended period of time. My practice
also offers "power bleaching". This is a suped up version of the former
done at chairside in two visits. The cost is exactly the same for the upper
and the lower teeth with the two visits covered in the one payment of $100.
I feel that this procedure works great and is fast compared to the former
take home gel but is more likely to cause tooth sensitivity. So, I allow
patients to choose with no financial gain or loss in choosing one over the
other. My patients appreciate that I am not trying to "stick it to'em" when
it comes to bleaching procedures.
I wrote in hoping to get you to try your local dentists for your bleaching
needs. You may have to shop around but I'm sure their are other dentists
out there who know their patients will be with them for a lifetime, and feel
as I do, that some services aren't to line pockets but to provide help. The
pocket lining services will come from patients who trust me and need
restorative, operative, preventative, etc, care.
I agree...the toothpastes..as far as I am concerned...are a scam...I
wouldn't get anything from the TV ...only from the professionals!!
