Question:
My top front left tooth is a crown that I'm going to be getting replaced
soon. I know that it's impossible to whiten a crown or cap, so I was just
wondering if it was possible for me to use Crest Whitestrips on my teeth
BEFORE I have the new cap made, that way the new cap will be made to match
my whiter teeth?
I know that I'd have to whiten whenever the other teeth start get yellow
again (at least then I'll have an incentive). BTW, anybody have any
experience with the new Crest Whitestrip Premiums? They gotten great
reviews at drugstore.com.
Answer:
They're supposed to be a bit stronger than "regular" Whitestrips, so they
might work a bit better. However, depending on how much whiter you want
your teeth to be, you might want to talk to someone in your dentist's office
to see what they recommend. If you just want a slight shade difference, the
Whitestrips might get you there, more than that and you may need something
from a professional.
I don't like the crest whitestrips premium, poor tooth coverage, poor
adhesion to teeth, expensive, etc. Returned mine and bought Dr. George's kit
for $9.99. Uses boil & bite trays which work just fine for me. You get an
unheard of 5.2oz of prof. strength gel.
Read up about it on these two websites:

If you like the outcome of the crest white strips you might want to
wait 2 weeks for the shade to stabilize for the shade match.
I rarely crown 1 or 2 front teeth because it is so difficult to
maintain this shade. It is very difficult to match the shade to
natural teeth and if not done right you will look like a bunny rabbit.
Whether you notice or care is a different story and ultimatly that is
what matters.
