Question:
I have been having chronic headaches for the past couple of months and
would like some advise. I have my two bottom wisdom teeth popping in.
One of them is partially erupted, the other is pushing to come in. They
are probably infected because I get that bad taste around that area.
Lately my jaw has been a little sore and i tire from chewing fairly
quickly. The outside of my ears, around the opening and right in front
of my ears are tender when pressure is applied. My ears feel full and
my neck is stiff and sore. My headache is pretty much confined to the
back of my head and around the temples. I do not have any other
symptoms such as dizziness, decreased vision or whatnot.
Can wisdom teeth cause such headaches? I want to get this checked out
but I dont know if I should go to a dentist or a doctor.
Answer:
It defintely sounds like your wisdom are causing this problem. I would
consult your dentist, to x-ray them. Usually, if they are coming in
straight, they will be o.k. if you can deal with the problem of "teeth
cutting through."
An x-ray will reveal if the wisdom tooth is "angled" towards the
adjacent molar. This could be a problem because a badly inclined
wisdom tooth can actually resorb the back end of the adjacent tooth.
So an x-ray is quite important.
