Stain removal?

Question:

I had a nice cottom sweatshirt with a few tiny stains on them from food. I poured liquid ivory soap on the spots and left for 2 day, then washed. When it came out of the washer, to my horror, everywhere I poured the liquid soap, there was a horrible, worse-than-ever-dreamed-possible stain. I washed it again with Tide. Zip. Now, instead of a few tiny food stains, I've got large, brown, soap stains. What can I do?

Answer: What colour is your sweatshirt? If it is white, here is a solution.

Soak it in liquid toilet cleaner mixed with a little water for about 1/2 hour. This stuff bleaches the living *%&$@# out of anything white. All stains will be gone. Just don't use it on white items that have any coloured trim. The coloured trim will also end up white. Don't forget to rinse well :)

I have had wonderful results using this method on white canvas running shoes. I put the toilet cleaner in the toilet, then added the shoes. I'm serious.

OBFrugal: When you get those little tiny samples of moisturizing creams, shampoo, etc., don't attempt to use the stuff right out of the little packages. Empty them directly into your currently-in-use containers of moisturizer, shampoo, or whatever. You'll get at least triple the mileage from the freebie in question.

You might want to try rubbing tooth paste into the stain. This has worked for me in the past. A word of warning--don't do this on dark fabrics, because if you use to much there might be some fading.

Hee Hee Hee Do it just before gramma comes over, then as she goes to the bathroom, ask her "Have you seen little Johnny?"

This gives a whole new dimension to the phrase: "He doesn't know s*** from shinola."

I trust you let others in the family know the toilet is out of commision for a while. A double use could be pretty gross.
