Question:
I am interested in knowing prices for full dental crown, gold, without
complications, total costs including work on patient as well as cost
of crown itself, in the Los Angeles area. All replies welcomed!
Answer:
My favorite line from "American Beauty":
"You want some smiley sauce with that?"
Kevin Spacey was so cool in that film! Makes me want to quit dentistry and
opt for a fast-food career instead.
About the crown ........
Back here in the East, a crown goes for .... $350 .... to $1,000 and up
depending on whether you want fries with that.
United Concordia fee schedule is $450, say 50% from them and 50% from the
patient for a total of $450. A participating dentist cannot charge the
patient a dime more than that. A non-particpating dentist can charge $5,000
a crown, if he can find patients willing to pay that!
The crown cost the dentist anywhere from $60 to $200 and up for a superb
crown. So you, the patient, can see that trust is the only way that you can
cut a good deal for yourself. If you are a wheeler-dealer, you will find
that the dentist may be doing to you what you have been trying to do all
summer to the new secretary that just moved in down the hall.
