Question:
I have yet to remove my upper two wisdom teeth, and they are still jammed up
in the gums sometimes causing minor pain.
Just wondering, is it possible that these teeth might somehow be making my
sinus condition a little worse? That perhaps their poor position might irritate
and help to stimulate some of my sinuses to make too much mucus?
Answer:
I have a partially impacted wisdom tooth, just a tip protrudes out of the gum. My
dentist said that this could produce some of the pain that I assumed was from my
chronic sinusitus, (ear ache on same side going into jaw, occassion jaw pain on
both sides of my face, eminating (sp) into my cheeks. He strongly reccommends that
before I go through any sinus surgery, to have this tooth removed (by someone
else). Perhaps then, my pain would be tolerable and sinus surgery would be unnec.
(ENT wants to do sinus surgery to widen the openings and take out some Bone (???),
still waiting for his eval. to be fwd. to my PCP
IMHO, I much rather just have my wisdom tooth pulled then to have to go through
sinus surgery, it seems to be the most unpleasant experience!
I don't believe your teeth can do anything to make you produce mucus. But I
reserve the right to be wrong.
